June 13.2007 AValive produced an outdoor AV event for Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty where Coldwell Banker CEO Jim Gillespie spoke to the crowd while celebrating the opening of the new Wilmington NC Office.

The CEO of Coldwell Banker was in Wilmington on Wednesday, offering words of advice for people looking to buy or sell a home.

Coldwell Banker is one of the nation's largest and most successful real estate firms. One of their local offices, Sea Coast Realty, has surpassed $1 billion in sales, despite so-so sales numbers around the region.

A new report from the Association of Realtors shows houses are staying on the market longer this year than last, and the number of unsold homes is climbing.

Despite that, Gillispie says our real estate market is strong.

"Well, the market is off from last year and the year before, but if you compare it to the year 2000, where we were 20 to 25 percent in 2000, so 2007 is the year we would have longed for six years ago," he said.

Gillispie was in Wilmington to help Sea Coast Realty celebrate the opening of its new office
